Sew cute for my doggie!

Well if you have ever heard of Houston weather then you may have heard how crazy our so called winters can be. I remember back in the 80's when I was just a kid, how cold the winter could be. We lived in our little efficiency apartment two adults and a kid, the only real furniture we had was a couch and a tea table. At night the floor was transformed into two bed areas. The apartment may have been one small room for all three of us but in the winter it was cozy warm..perfect.

Now the winter days come in spurts of freezing cold. They squeeze between the lingering summer days of heat and humidity that don't seem to want to let go of its grip. The trees go from being covered in green leaves one day to suddenly dumping everything all at once on the unsuspecting lawn and driveways. There's no slow transitional changing of the seasons where you could feel the air begin to feel lighter and cooler; as the trees slowly start to change their color in their leaves from greens to yellows, oranges, reds, and finally brown. Then finally the tree would drop its leaves covering the grass, which was always fun to rake into giant piles that we could then throw ourselves into. I'm nostalgic for those days.

But here we are its December finally, another holiday down and one more to celebrate before the New Years comes creeping around the corner. We have gone from being as low as 34°F to back to 70°F! My closet is confused. My dogs are confused too! We have a little one that we adopted and this is her first winter so I knew that she needed a little sweater to wear when its been cold. She loves to be outside running and playing with the other two it just doesn't seem right that she not be protected as they are. So I decided that I needed to make her a sweater for her. She's so tiny, I didn't really think I would be able to find her something small enough to fit her seeing as I have yet to find her a color and harness that fits her.
Now I've never made doggy clothing before so this was completely new territory for me..heh-heh-heh..a challenge. I thought for a moment about what I didn't like about the clothes for doggies that were out there to choose from. I thought about the things I did like about them. Then I thought about what I would like in their design to make my life easier when it came to putting them on them, plus it had to be a colorful, girly, comfy, and cute! Here is my attempt and for my first attempt, I must say I am happy  with the results!
